IMED is headed by a Secretary to the Government who is responsible
for the conduct of business of the Division. He performs functions
under the general and special direction of the State Minister
for Finance and Planning and the Minister in-charge of the
Ministry of Finance and Planning. The division has a Chief
of the rank of Division Chief of the Planning Commission.
Its activities are organised into three broad functional
monitoring sectors and two technical sectors. Each sector
is headed by a Director General who reports to the Secretary.
The three functional sectors are: (a) Agriculture and Rural
Development, (b) Industry and Power (c) Education and Social
Sector. Besides IMED has two special units viz. Central Procurement
Technical Unit (CPTU) and Evaluation Unit. CPTU is responsible
for carrying out reforms in public procurement and improving
procurement management capacity. The Evaluation unit is responsible
for conducting impact evaluation of the completed projects
of different Ministries/Divisions. Directors, Deputy Directors
and Assistant Directors with necessary support staff assist
each Director General.
Coordination & Data Processing Sector: IMED is
supported by a central coordination sector headed by a Director
who coordinates the activities of the functional sectors and
is also responsible for maintaining up-to-date project information
with computer support.
Administration and Personnel Management Wing: It is
headed by a Joint Secretary to the government and assisted
by a Deputy Secretary and other support officers and staffs.
